Great Christmas presents you can give to your home December 09, 2016 10:40

It’s the time of year where everybody wants to give gifts to the people who they love, but if you think that you and your family have everything that you could possibly need at the moment, then you may wish to consider giving something to your home instead. Things like metal guttering are a popular addition, and there are lots of places where you can buy cheap guttering that will look great. There are however a number of other things that you could give to your home as a gift this year, and this blog will help you to think of some of those.

A new appliance

Metal guttering

How many times have you wished that you had something that would make your life just that little bit easier? There are many different types of appliances that you might want to buy, but you may have thought in the past that it was too much of an expense. For example, washing dishes may fill you with dread, so there is a chance that a dishwasher would be a great thing for you to buy. Or, if you enjoy drinking high quality coffee, then a coffee machine might well be the perfect investment for your needs.

A new décor

A lot of us wait for years in between decorating each of the rooms in our home, and with this being the case the décor can start to look old and tired before too long. You would be surprised at just how much of a difference a lick of paint can make, and for this reason it is good to try and decorate at least two rooms per year – this way, you know that you will be able to get around them all eventually.

Roof repairs

There are many repairs that you might choose to put off in your home, but roof repairs are something that certainly shouldn’t ever be ignored. If you ignore those vital repairs that need to be done, then there is always the chance that you might have water damage in your home, and this is something that could be incredibly difficult to put right if you don’t do something to avoid it in the first place. By hiring a professional roofer, they will be able to come in and take a look at your roof and see exactly where things need to be done. It is always better to do this type of thing sooner rather than later, as it means that you can then deal with things before they really become an issue.

No matter what you decide to do for your home, there is no doubt that your property deserves a Christmas present just as much as you do. By thinking about what your home could benefit from, you can make sure that it gets something that can really help it to shine – and this in turn means that you will be able to be really proud to show it off when you have guests over the festive period.

Top 5 reasons to choose steel gutters November 03, 2016 13:51

Replacing the guttering in your home is something that the majority of people have to do from time to time while they are living in a property that they are the owners of. For this reason, you may wish to think about the benefits of choosing metal gutters over other options, such as cheaper PVC versions. No matter whether you’re looking to replace your full gutter, or whether you’re looking for guttering accessories, there are benefits to every choice – and this means that it is well worth thinking about the top 5 reasons for choosing metal guttering.

A low carbon footprint

More of us than ever before are concerned about the environment, and with this in mind we may be thinking about our carbon footprint. The good news about metal gutters is that you can recycle them in their entirety when you have finished with them, and this means that you don’t have to worry about any of the material going to waste.

Steel is more likely to keep its shape

When the weather changes, particularly when it is very cold in the winter, materials can change shape. The good news about steel is that it is much more likely to stay in shape, and therefore you don’t have to worry about the changing shape causing damage.

Lasts for a long time

Steel doesn’t need to be replaced as often as other styles of guttering, and many are even given a rust-proof coating, which can help to protect them even more. This means that you shouldn’t be concerned about having to replace your guttering again soon after it has been done – as it will last for many years.

Incredibly strong

Steel is a brilliantly strong material, and for this reason it can protect your home against many things, including severe weather and also things such as falling branches. This is a welcome addition to any home – as it means that your guttering system is much less likely to need repairs at any point in the near future.

Cheaper in the long term

Although you will have to pay a higher price to have your guttering installed initially, this is nothing to worry about – as the material will last longer than other types of guttering, and this means that you don’t have to replace it as often. So, when you take into account the amount of time that it will last, you should find that you are actually saving money, despite the higher amount that you have to pay at the beginning.

So, if you are thinking about upgrading your guttering system, then it is clear that there are a number of reasons that metal guttering would be a great choice for you. Certainly in the long term there are a great number of benefits, so if it is on your list of options at the moment then it is definitely something that you should think about as a serious solution to all of your guttering needs for the property that you own.

Protecting your home ready for winter October 13, 2016 07:51

Your home is almost certainly going to be the most valuable thing that you own in the whole of your life, and with this being the case it is always more than worth taking the time to consider how you can protect it whenever you have the chance to do so. When winter is on the way, this is more important than at any other time of year, so if your metal guttering or steel gutters aren’t currently up to the job that they are designed for, this blog may well be the ideal one for you to read.

Think about your roof

steel guttering

When you consider the different types of weather that you may experience during the winter months, you will almost certainly be able to see just how vital your roof is when it comes to protecting your home – as your roof will be what the weather hits right when it first falls. With this being the case, you should always make sure that your roof is in as good a state of repair as it can possibly be. There should be no holes for water to get through, and it is vital that you make sure that any missing tiles are replaced as soon as possible. Things such as water freezing in the gaps between tiles can cause a lot of damage, which is why it is vital that your roof is as strong as it can be.

Install an alarm system

steel guttering

A huge number of homes in the country currently don’t have a working alarm system installed, and with this being the case they are constantly leaving themselves at risk of theft. This is even more important in the winter, because the nights are longer, which means that there are more hours of dark that thieves could use to their advantage. By having a working alarm system, you can make sure that your home is protected when you are out, and also when you are in bed at night – and doing this will mean that your mind can certainly be put at ease.

Insulation

If you don’t have any insulation already in place in your home, then this could be something that you might want to think about. This can be great, as it means that heat will stay in your home for longer, and therefore your heating won’t cost as much money to run. You are certain to be able to see this reflected in your heating bills in the long term, which means that you would be able to save a lot of money.

 steel guttering

Simply by taking the time to think about the things that you could do to protect your home in the winter, you can be sure that you can look forward to a season of being warm and comfortable in your home without having to worry about anything happening to it. This is great, as it means that you have nothing on your mind, and can simply enjoy the home that you have.

5 signs your gutters need to be replaced August 30, 2016 11:23

Your steel gutters are a key part of your overall roofing system, and for this reason it is important to make sure that they are always in the best possible condition. With this in mind, it is worth thinking about how to tell when your metal guttering needs to be replaced. By keeping an eye on it, and considering exactly when they should be replaced, you are sure to be able to ensure that your roof system remains stable in the long term. With this being the case, these tips will help you to keep an eye on your guttering, and see exactly when it needs to be replaced.

Your gutter has come away from the roof

Steel Gutters

If your gutter isn’t attached to your roof in the way that it should be, there is no way that it is going to be able to do the job that it is there for. With this being the case, if you can see that any part of your system is coming away from the wall, you should try to get it repaired as soon as possible. There are many reasons that it might have come away, but sometimes the only option is to have your gutters replaced.

There are parts that are uneven

In order for water to flow through your system in the most effective way, you need to make sure that everything is as even as possible. With this being the case, it is more than worth taking a look around the perimeter of your home, and checking that everything looks as it should.

There is rust or cracking

Steel Gutters

Any damage to your system can make it weaker in the long term, and for this reason you should always be trying to keep your eyes open for it whenever you possibly can. If you see that there are any cracks, this could let water through and damage your home, so it is vital that this part of your guttering is replaced as soon as possible.

There are pools of water

If there are any pools of water beneath your gutters, this is often a sign that you have a leak in your system. This could cause damage to your building in the long term, so it is something that you need to address as soon as you possibly can.

There is a gap between where your gutters connect

The whole of your gutter system should be connected, and if at any point this is not the case, you could find that you start to struggle with things such as leaks. If this happens, you may experience damage, so it is important that this is fixed.

In the long term, a quality network of guttering can help to protect your home, and when you consider how important this is, it is clear that it is more than worth the time and effort needed to keep an eye on your guttering, and make sure it always looks the way that it should.

Why Guttering Is Vital For The Protection Of Your Home August 10, 2016 12:23

When you are trying to improve your home, one of the main things that you will need to think about is the protection of your home on the outside as well as on the inside. Doing so means that it is likely to remain a high quality in the long term, and therefore you shouldn’t have to worry about anything going wrong in the future with regards to the maintenance of your home. One of the best things to think about in this respect is galvanised guttering, as this can be great to use around the outside of your home. There are a number of benefits to metal guttering, and by thinking about these, you should be able to make a decision with regards to whether you would like to include them in your home or not.

Metal guttering

Weather can be damaging

When the weather is bad, you may find that if your guttering isn’t up to scratch, the rain will run down the side of your home and cause a lot of damage over time. With this being the case, you are certain to want to avoid unsightly marks, and for this reason it is a great idea to install metal guttering into your home – as this means that you will know that your home is protected, and that you don’t have anything more to worry about in this respect.

Metal guttering is durable

Although a large number of people will opt for plastic guttering as a way to try and cut back on the amount of money that is spent, this might be a false economy in the long term, as metal guttering is very durable, and this means that it won’t need to be replaced as often as other materials might be. Therefore, once it is in place, you can be sure that it will stay that way for a long time to come, meaning that you no longer need to worry about it.

The metal gutters look great on your home

With this being the case, you always need to consider the little things as well as the big things, and metal gutters are great to bear in mind when you’re thinking about things that can be done to your home. They are certain to leave a lasting impression on anybody who might be wanting to visit your home, and this means that you will be proud of the home that you own.

Generally, it is clear to see why metal gutters are a great thing to buy when you are a homeowner. By taking the time to do your research about the reasons that you should choose these types of gutters, you can ensure that you make the right eventual choice, and this means that you are likely to be able to enjoy the benefits of your decision for a long time to come.

Increasing the value of your home July 18, 2016 12:08

If you are looking to move house, it is important that you increase the value of your home if at all possible, as this means that you will be able to increase the asking price. There are many ways in which the value can be increased by taking simple steps, including investing in steel gutters including both guttering and downpipes, and also enhancing the home to the best of your ability. This blog will give you some ideas with regards to the things that can be done to increase this value, meaning that you can look forward to being able to sell your home for more money.

Invest in your guttering system

Having a high quality guttering system is a great idea for two reasons – first because it can look great and improve the aesthetics of the outside of your home, and secondly because a well-working guttering system can also help to protect your home against heavy rain, as the gutters that are put in place would be able to deal with the rainwater even if it was heavy.
Steel Gutters

Extend where possible

If you have the money to invest in an extension, this is a great idea. An extra room can add a lot of value; particularly if it is a room that could be used for a number of things. Other options for extension could be adding a conservatory onto the back of your property, or extending your kitchen so that the new owners would have more space whilst cooking. Any additional space is a bonus, and this means that your house would sell much more quickly, and at a better price, too.

Decorate as much as you can

You would be surprised to see just how much of a difference a fresh lick of paint can make to a home, so if you have the time, you should try to decorate any rooms that you feel could do with a little bit of refreshing. This means that when people are viewing your property, they will feel much more positive about it, and the great thing is that simply repainting a room doesn’t need to take very much time out of your day at all.

Fix any issues

Although people will often buy properties that have things that need to be fixed, there is a lot to be said for being able to move straight in – and people may look more favourably on your property if there is very little that needs to be done to it. It makes the transition much easier, and allows the new owners to settle in as quickly as possible.

Generally, by doing one or two simple things to increase the value of your home, you should find that you are able to get a much better deal when you come to sell. This is more than worth it in the long term, so you should certainly consider putting the effort in now, to see just where it will take you.

How to protect your home from rain damage June 02, 2016 12:43

Taking care of your home can sometimes feel like a never ending task with so many things that you need to think about, but by making sure that you are prepared for any eventuality that may occur, you will make the job much easier for yourself in the long term. There are many issues that could affect your home, and one of these is water damage caused by the rain, which may be much worse during the winter months. Luckily, by installing galvanized steel gutters you should find that a lot of this damage can be avoided completely. For this reason, it makes a lot of sense to get in touch with local galvanized steel guttering experts, as they may be able to help you to take care of your home and protect it for the future.

One of the main ways in which rain can damage your home is by leaking in through gaps in the walls or windows – and if this is allowed to occur then you may find that you struggle with issues such as mould in the future, which is going to be quite costly to repair if you don’t address it straight away. Not only is this an issue on the inside of your home, but you may also find that if water is allowed to run down the outside of your home, you may have issues with it leaving unsightly marks which could also cause mould to form which could be difficult to remove.

For this reason, you should thoroughly check around your home to make sure that there are no gaps that could cause an issue. Some of these will be easy to see, and while you may not think that they would be too much of an issue, you will find that over time the problem will only get worse which means that it is incredibly beneficial to get them sorted out as soon as possible.

For the outside of your home, it can help to sort out your guttering. When we buy a home, we may not think of the guttering as the main thing that needs to be considered with regards to home improvements – however it is important, as it could help to maintain your home in the long term. If gutters are dirty, damaged or ill-fitted, you will almost certainly experience issues.

Galvanized steel is one of the best materials to use for guttering, as it is strong and long-lasting, meaning that once you have made the effort to install it, it will be a huge benefit to your home in the long term.

Generally, by thinking about potential issues with rain water in advance, you are helping to ensure that your home will be safe and protected in the future, which is certainly something that is worth doing. For this reason, it makes sense to contact a steel guttering company who could give you the best advice about installation – as it really is a huge investment into your home in the long term.

How does Roofart Scandic compare on price against other steel rainwater systems? June 08, 2015 10:52

In an industry often driven by price, the Moldovan manufactured Roofart Scandic gutter system has kept its prices down well below the competition. There has been no compromise on build quality plus our gutter system is manufactured from the same high grade Swedish SSAB material that the other makes available in the UK are also made from.

Our aim is to reduce the price gap between steel and the inferior and less eco friendly pvc guttering that the UK has been fitting to buildings for decades. Our 150mm diameter system already compares evenly on price against other industrial size PVC gutters and our 125mm domestic size is not far behind, making it the sensible choice.

See the above price comparisons between Roofart and the other known brands available. This price is based on manufacturer list price of 2 x basic 9m runs of gutter with 1 x 6m run of downpipe on each run along with all required accessories.

Is Roofart Scandic steel guttering compatible with other steel gutters? May 26, 2015 12:52

As you may be aware there are other manufacturers of steel gutters available in the UK market. The most common known brands you will see are Lindab Rainline, Rainclear Zambelli and the newly launched Saint Gobain Cyclone system.

We have had a couple of queries as to whether our Roofart gutter can be used with other makes, either as replacement parts or extending a run of guttering. The answer to this is that Roofart is compatible only with Lindab but no other makes that we are aware of in the UK. The other makes are of different depths or profile to Roofart so will not join from gutter to gutter.

Please note (and this should go without saying), but Roofart and Lindab are only compatible if using like-for -like diameter gutters or pipes. Clearly you will not be able to join a 100mm Lindab gutter with a 125mm Roofart gutter, or a 75mm Lindab pipe with an 87mm Roofart pipe.

I hope this helps but if you require more information please do not hesitate to get in contact.
